This programme in Urban Regeneration offers you a broad understanding of contemporary urban change, governance and policy, and allows you to find a deeper insight into specific issues which contribute to, or detract from, city and neighbourhood development.
•If you are already involved in urban regeneration this programme is an ideal choice. It is equally suitable if you want to establish a career in urban regeneration policy or practice.
•We are widely recognised as one of Europe's leading centres of urban research. In the most recent independent review of research quality (RAE 2008), Urban Studies at Glasgow was rated in the UK's top ten in its field.
•The programme is very flexible and you can complete the courses through full-time, part-time or modular study. Much of the taught content is delivered in intensive 'conference-style' days. These are designed to suit all needs, whether you are studying full-time or balancing your study with professional commitments.
•There is significant input from industry, including teaching on some courses, guest lectures and seminars. Our contributors include Scottish and local government, and organisations engaged in delivering urban policy initiatives.
Programme overview
•MSc: 12 months full-time; 24 months part-time; up to 60 months on modular basis
•PgDip: 9 months full-time; 18 months part-time; up to 4 years on modular route
•PgCert: 4 months full-time; 8 months part-time; up to 4 years on modular route
Core courses
•Changing cities and neighbourhoods
•Contemporary government and governance
•Policy analysis.
Optional courses include
•Regenerating cities
•Designing places
•Economic development
•Remaking urban neighbourhoods
•Strategic management and decision making.
You will also research a specialist topic and produce a dissertation (MSc only).
Career prospects
Career opportunities exist within the private and public sectors in policy analysis, urban and city regeneration, community development and economic development.

A second-class Honours degree or equivalent qualification. Relevant work or voluntary experience will also be taken into account.

There is a preparation course for international students who don't meet the entry requirements. Completion of this Pre-Masters course to the required level guarantees your entry to this programme.
